About us
Nicolson Maps commenced trading in 1979 when Malcolm Nicolson identified a need for good quality local street maps. It is now an established business with a proven record of success in the promotion, sale and production of maps.

Mr Nicolson left the Ordnance Survey after many years service, on deciding to fulfil his ambition of establishing his own business, producing and supplying maps. After extensive research and considerable effort, his first map was published in 1979.

It was the forerunner of a wide range of maps now produced in the distinctive style of Nicolson Maps. These are now sold in a wide variety of retail outlets across Scotland. The Nicolson 'Street Guide' range now covers most towns and villages in Scotland, and the maps are kept up to date on a regular basis.
The business has grown from 'sole trader' to a position where it employs 13 staff today and has developed an impressive customer list based on a basic philosophy of genuine and efficient customer service. Robin Nicolson now occupies a key role in maintaining the family-based work ethic which drives the business.

Nicolson Maps became a licensed partner and joined 'Maps@' with the Ordnance Survey on their introduction. We are 'Options' agents for Ordnance Survey, providing large scale maps for the public from our shop in Largs (Scotland).

Purchases may be made by e-mail, fax, telephone, letter or via this online shop.
